Tamworth Boar, Waiting for the Vet5403 viewsThe best way we could think of isolating the Tamwroth boar so the vet could check his back leg was to lure him into the stock trailer with food. In the end, he managed to push open the metal gate and escape.

In the Four Acre Field5391 viewsThree different types of pigs: in the foreground, the large black pig is a fairly elderly (but hugely fast) Iron Age - Gloucester Old Spot cross. The red pig is a pure Tamworth, and the piglet coming out of the ark is a Berkshire.
panam.jpg
PanAm Boeing Stratocruiser 377 in Honolulu, Circa 19495207 viewsI did a Google search on this aircraft, N1025V. It was the first of 21 Stratocruisers delivered to PanAm (delivered on January 31, 1949). At the time it was called "Clipper America," although that doesn't seem to be the name in this photograph. (PanAm apparently had many aircraft called "Clipper America" over the years.) N1025V is now sold as a model. The real N1025V was sold to the Israeli Air Force in 1963 as a cargo plane, and last flew in March 1974.

Ross Being Shown the Artificial Cow5148 viewsHe's not particularly interested in a large white plastic cow. Please note how he's being managed with two leads --- one to his nose ring, and one attached to his head collar. Ian Crouch is holding both.

Running Through The 11 Acre Field5047 viewsI'm not sure if this Highland cow was running to me, or away from me. A warm summer afternoon, July 10 2005, on the 11 Acre field.

Two Picanha Steaks Cut From The Whole4986 viewsThis is the piece that Marjorie rubbed with salt. We have cut the steaks quite thick, and are about to put them on the grill.

Gloucester Old Spot - Tamworth Cross Piglets4986 viewsAbout six or seven months ago a farmer asked if he could bring his two Gloucester Old Spot sows to Lucies Farm so they'd have a litter of Tamworth - GOS piglets. The farmer visited us several times and then vanished, leaving us with the babies (and their mothers). These are part of the two combined litters.

Unblinking Eye -- Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam4981 viewsThe unblinking eye is the symbol of the Cao Dai faith, founded in 1926 in Viet Nam. "Cao Dai venerates a host of different figures including Victor Hugo, Sun Yat Sen, and Trangh Trinh, a 16th century Vietnamese poet and philosopher. Its ethics are based in the belief in the reincarnation of the soul." There are 7 to 8 million adherents, mostly in Viet Nam.

Turkey and Duck - Born on the Same Day4965 viewsMay 17 2004 -- Today we had a baby Bronze turkey and a baby duck hatch. We think the duck is part Indian Runner and part wild mallard. They're snuggling together under the heat lamp.
