Tamworth Boar, Waiting for the Vet4960 viewsThe best way we could think of isolating the Tamwroth boar so the vet could check his back leg was to lure him into the stock trailer with food. In the end, he managed to push open the metal gate and escape.

Our Own Ralph4921 viewsBy far the most popular attraction was Ralph, the Swimming Pig. Ralph swam around Aquarena Springs performing tricks and dives until the early 1990s when he retired. A picture of "Ralph the Diving Pig" and the woman he performed with was published in Chic magazine. The woman successfully sued Larry Flynt for presenting her in a 'false light' because the story appeared 'amid stories of bizarre sexual exploits.' Braun v. Flynt

The Chrysler Imperial and Cow Dummy4898 viewsIt was hoped that Ross would mount the white plastic cow dummy (covered with a cow hide during the performance of Guardian of the Veil. A similar dummy was sent to us at Lucies Farm to see if Ross was "interested." He wasn't.

In the Four Acre Field4815 viewsThree different types of pigs: in the foreground, the large black pig is a fairly elderly (but hugely fast) Iron Age - Gloucester Old Spot cross. The red pig is a pure Tamworth, and the piglet coming out of the ark is a Berkshire.

The Vet Giving our Tamworth Boar an Injection4768 viewsAnn Carman, from The White House Vets in Malvern, comes out on a Saturday and Sunday to see our Tamworth boar. He's a bit lame, but Ann found nothing in his paw (trotter?) and no apparent broken bones. An injection of a pain killer and some antibiotic is needed, but the first bends Ann's needle. Big tries to keep the boar in place while Ann tries again with a stronger needle.2 comments

Turkey and Duck - Born on the Same Day4739 viewsMay 17 2004 -- Today we had a baby Bronze turkey and a baby duck hatch. We think the duck is part Indian Runner and part wild mallard. They're snuggling together under the heat lamp.

Kune Kune - Gloucester Cross4618 viewsDon't ask me how, but somehow Chase's kune kune pigs mated with our Gloucester Old Spot boar, and this piggy is the result. When I tried to take her photo she kept trying to hide behind the water trough. I guess I can't blame her for not wanting to have her photo snapped.

Black Bull -- Woodneuk Fold -- Royal Show 20054536 viewsI took this photograph of a regal Highland black bull waiting to go into the show ring. The gentleman gave me his card: he's Tom Thomson from the Woodneuk Fold in Glasgow.

Curly Tail4532 viewsWhen I saw this photograph, it reminded me of those ribbon pins that seem to be all the rage at awards ceremonies. This curly tail belongs to one of our Berkshire pigs.
